Satellite capture

Multispectral imagery is pulled for the site boundary on every revisit — 10m resolution, wide enough to cover a ward, tight enough to resolve a canopy.

Vegetation index shifts sort trees into alive, stressed, or dead, and flag any drop in canopy cover before it becomes a lost planting season.

The carbon model

Carbon numbers you can walk through, line by line

Every CO₂e figure starts from a living tree count — alive trees full weight, stressed trees at half weight — and a stand age worked out from the planting date.

Species-specific allometric coefficients convert that into above-ground biomass. Root mass, a biomass expansion factor, and a carbon fraction bring it to total carbon stock, and the standard molecular ratio converts carbon to CO₂ equivalent.

Where a site's species mix isn't recorded, the model falls back to an IPCC tropical broadleaf default and says so on the report — nothing is presented as more precise than the underlying data allows.

Biomass = AGB × BEF × (1 + root ratio)
Carbon = Biomass × 0.47 carbon fraction
CO₂e = Carbon × 3.6667
a, b are species-specific allometric coefficients averaged across the site's recorded species. Trees counted as alive contribute in full; stressed trees contribute at 50%. Dead trees are excluded.
